Cargill: Welfare queen of the week

— 2 minute read

We are all told that we must work our asses off and compete against each other in order to earn our keep. We are told that socialism is bad and that it breeds laziness. We are told that we must make sacrifices in hard times, such as accepting cuts to pay and pensions, all for the greater good.

So why is it that Cargill, a company owned by the richest family in the world, needs taxpayer money in order to protect their workers? Why are we propping up a company that can't even pay its fair share of taxes thanks to their extensive use of tax havens?

Also, how is it that grocery stores are facing meat shortages when demand for meat has dropped considerably, due to the many restaurants across this country closed to diners? Why are we letting corporations like Cargill get away with continuing to steal our wealth while the economic outlook for mine and later generations looks more and more bleak?

This corporate welfare needs to stop. The exploitation of workers by the rich elite needs to stop. And I will not lay down until it does. Will you join me in the fight? The time for a revolution is now. Which side will you be on when history predictably repeats itself?
