Saskatchewan COVID update

— 1 minute read

190 new cases, 1,289 active cases, 29 total deaths

In August, teachers and parents warned the Saskatchewan government that their back-to-school plan was not sufficient, but they were turned down. Heading into the Thanksgiving weekend, Saskatchewan mayors pleaded with the province to mandate mask-wearing, but were turned down. Leading into the provincial election in October, the premier delegated responsibility to individuals in taking a hold of COVID. Many people I know, including some in my own family, sadly, turned them down and refuse to wear masks and properly practice social distancing, thanks to this mixed-messaging.

What this province is now facing is how an individualistic approach to an ongoing health crisis goes. Thanks to Scott Moe and the Sask Party's complete failure of leadership, we are facing record numbers of cases leading into a busy holiday season when workers and businesses are already struggling. When will the people of Saskatchewan stop tolerating incompetence from a government that is supposed to protect us and our economy? We deserve better.
