The Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce wants workers to “do their part”

— 1 minute read

Quite frankly, Steve McLellan and the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce can f**k off. Workers have been doing their part for decades, while the rich extract and hoard our wealth, increasingly widening the gap between the haves (them) and the have nots (us).

The free ride that the rich have been getting, with generous tax rates, toothless regulation and exploitative labour conditions, must come to an end. The only way to combat the mounting job losses from globalization, automation and now COVID-19, is by making the CERB both universal and permanent.

Despite what Steve suggests, it is employers that must give workers a compelling reason to continue having their labour exploited. That means a fairer wage, equity, and autonomy for safe, meaningful work. It’s now time for them to do their part.
