There is no such thing as an ethical business under capitalism

— 2 minute read

Socialists like me don’t want to just find space in the political discourse to educate people on the problems of capitalism. We want to replace capitalism with socialism.

If you are like me and are one that cares about human rights and the environment, desire social and economic equity, want a say in your workplace and how the value you create is spent, and want to see the end to poverty, hunger, and homelessness, you will not see these happen under capitalism. This is because under capitalism, there is no such thing as an ethical business, or ethical consumption for that matter.

Capitalism, by its profit-seeking nature, will always require the exploitation of workers, natural resources, and our ecosystems. To truly have a better world, free of exploitation, it’s going to take more than slapping lipstick on a pig.

For more on why there is no such thing as an ethical business under capitalism, and what the alternative is (you’ll never guess!), check out this Second Thought video.

As a bonus, to make yourself feel better and less guilty about living in our unethical capitalist world and how to survive it, perhaps as a socialist, check out this video from YUGOPNIK (disclamer: posting this link is not an endoresmenet of its content).
