Think America lost the war in Afghanistan?

— 2 minute read

Sure, the American people and those in coalition countries including Canada who funded the war, and especially those who fought in the war and either did not come home (153 Canadians and 2420 Americans are among the dead) or brought back with them broken limbs and PTSD, they have all lost.

Who didn't lose is the American ownership class who benefits from the military industrial complex who in turn buys ads in the media and funds political campaigns in order to foment pro-war discourse, they won in a big way. We are told the war was about finding Bin Laden but then after he was killed (in Pakistan), it quickly turned into protecting Afghani women among other bullshit reasons (what about Saudi women?). This wasteful war was never about these things, and like everything else in our consumerist society, it was all about profit for the already-rich.

For a quick look at how the American military industrial complex got rich from the war in Afghanistan and how the unnecessary, immoral wars will likely continue, please check out this short video (8m 49s) from the underrated James Li on his 51-49 YouTube channel (give him a like and subscribe and check out his other videos—they are great).
